The total population is 231,623. College Station is home to the main campus of Texas A&M University. The city's name, and in fact, the town's whole existence, is due to the university's location along the railroad. The recognition doesn't end there. A few other Attractions include the George Bush Presidential Library and Museum, which has become a major tourist attraction with over 125,000 visitors per year. College Station is also home to 52 city parks that cover more than 1,400 acres. Amenities at the parks include swimming pools, hiking trails, playgrounds, dog parks, tennis courts, basketball courts, volleyball and softball fields, picnic pavilions, a large outdoor amphitheater and a skate park.
