Pipe-Creek
is a small, unincorporated community in southern Texas that is part of the San Antonio metropolitan area. The population of Pipe Creek is estimated to be less than 100 residents. As part of the San Antonio area, Pipe Creek offers all the city's many attractions, including the most famous of them all - The Alamo. The Alamo was originally known as Mission San Antonio deValero. A former Roman Catholic mission and fortress compound, it was the site of the infamous Battle of the Alamo in 1836. The second most popular attraction in the area is The River Walk at San Antonio. It meanders through the downtown area, and is lined with cypress trees, arched stone bridges, lush greenery, shops, bars, and restaurants. The Arneson River Theater is also located here. During the Christmas and New Year holidays, the River Walk is transformed into a spectacular festival of lights, with local flamenco and folkloric music. Other attractions in Pipe Creek/San Antonio include Six Flags Fiesta Texas, Morgan's Wonderland (a children's theme park,) the Cathedral of San Fernando, the San Antonio Cavalry Museum, the Spanish Governor's Palace and much more. Pipe Creek is part of an urban region known as the Texas Triangle. The population of the entire metropolitan area is over two million people, with approximately 26 million visitors per year.

The South-Central Hill Country has an arid climate, but sits on the edge of the humid subtropical climate zone. Summers are hot and winters are warm to cool. Spring and fall are comfortably warm. The area receives up to 48 inches of rain per year, with the wettest months being April and May. Widespread flooding is common. The central hill country receives about a dozen nights per year below freezing. Occasionally, there is sleet, freezing rain or snow. It's not uncommon for some winters to have no freezing precipitation at all. Tornadoes are possible, although not as common as in other areas of the state. July and August are the hottest months. The highest temperature recorded was 111 °F in 2000, and the lowest recorded temperature ever was 0 °F in January 1949.
