Corsicana
is located in Navarro County in northeastern Texas, about 55 miles south of downtown Dallas. As of the 2010 census, the population of Corsicana was 23,770. Corsicana was founded in 1848 and has quite an interesting history. For instance, women have always played a strong role in the city. The Corsicana Female Literary Institute, a school which operated from 1857 through 1870, was one of the first of its' kind in the country. Also of historical significance, during World War II, Corsicana Air Field trained thousands of pilots. Today, the city includes one of the most impressive collections of historic homes and buildings in its' downtown area and the Carriage District, west of downtown. This includes a town center with an active performing arts community, year-round live theater and art exhibits and music performances. Other attractions include the Warehouse Living Arts Center, the Palace Theater, an art gallery, several restaurants, coffee houses and specialty shops. Corsicana also has several museums, including Pioneer Village, the Civil War Museum and the Lefty Frizzell Museum, who was a Nashville singer born in the city in the late 1920s. Special events in the town include Derrick Days, the Freedom Festival, Main Street's Great Pumpkin Patch, the Cotton Harvest Festival, the National Polka Festival, the Bluebonnet Trails Festival and more.

Northern Texas , in the Plains Region, the climate is semi-arid and prone to drought. Annual rainfall is between 16 and 32 inches. During the summer, this area of state sees the most clear and sunny days. On most winter nights, temperatures fall below the freezing mark, or 32 °F. The wettest months of the year are April and May. Tornadoes are common, caused by the convergence of westerly and southerly prevailing winds during the late spring, making the region part of Tornado Alley. Poor land management, drought, and high wind speeds cause large dust storms. Improved land-management practices have improved dust storms somewhat in recent years. The panhandle region, farthest from the Gulf of Mexico, experiences colder winters than the other regions of Texas.
