Hunt is a small community located in central Texas at the confluence of the North and South Forks of the Guadalupe River. It's situated in the heart of the rugged Texas Hill Country. Hunt is mostly known for being home to several summer camps and for its' prime location on the Guadalupe River. Many vacation rentals homes are also in the area. The Guadalupe River is rated as one of the 100 top trout streams in the United States. It's a prime location for fly fishing for rainbow and brown trout (below Canyon Lake,) and also largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, Guadalupe bass, white bass, and the Rio Grande cichlid. The upper Guadalupe River is popular for tubing, especially during the spring and summer months. On the border of Kendall and Comal Counties, the river flows through Guadalupe River State Park, which is also one of the most popular tubing spots. The state park has four miles of river frontage for canoeing, kayaking, fishing, swimming, rafting, and tubing. Non-water activities include hiking, camping, picnicking and birdwatching. There's also a 5.3-mile mountain biking/horseback riding trail in Guadalupe State Park. Hunt is within a five-mile radius of several private boys and girls camps. Other nearby attractions include Crider's rodeo and dance hall, built in 1927, and the town of Fredericksburg, which offers shops, galleries, wineries, outdoor summer plays and more.
